With only sixteen minutes to find shelter staff at the Briarwood and Plaza Towers elementary schools were under much stress to safely get their students to safety. With winds as strong as 320 km/h being brought down on the schools which rated EF-4, just one step from the top of the Enhanced Fujita scale. We are lucky the death toll was reduced from the original 51 to 24 deaths seven of those being children.
This article Details the aftermath and rescue of the storm, while survivors are still being waited on by friends and family hopping for good news, but fearing the worst. It goes on to describe first person accounts during the storm as; the walls around them were being ripped apart. It says how the area is prone to tornadoes, constructing proper underground shelters is difficult because of the region’s soft, wet soil.
I find this story interesting because, I want to know what is going on in the world, and the frequency of tornadoes interests me because, they are very hard to predict and 16 minutes which the people in Oklahoma got was more than most would get to find shelter it is sad that 24 perished in this disaster, but I am thankful it was not more.
NDP Believer tired of idealistic ideas
The New Democratic Party has a lot of middleclass working people hooked on the NDP. I myself have always liked the NDP’s ideas. If I were to vote it would probably be for the NDP. Lately though I am wanting someone with more realistic ideas. The liberals in this matter with a high percentage of “educated/business professionals voting for them, I believe can help the economy better than if we threw in a new party to try and spend the next couple of years trying to get organized and then deal with it. The shock of the poles never really surprised me that much as I was hearing that the NDP was favoured to win I find the favoured to win normally gets cocky and falters at the finish line. And it happened in this case the NDP were sure they had a majority in the bag and didn’t account for the lack of young voters. My thinking behind the lack of young voters is simple the last generation paid attention to politics because their parents talked about it and discussed things like this with their kids so they were informed. The problem with our generation is that we are not informed and it is considered ‘un-cool’ to vote. The landslide for the liberals and the sudden fall of the NDP sure victory is that they assumed that the youth of today would care to vote to put bluntly “non-educated people normally do not vote” –anonymous The polls being wrong is just a loud of bull it’s just a reason to throw scepticism on the liberals if I’m wrong then I will be blown away.

My thoughts on the article are hopeful, hopeful in the new jobs it will open up for workers, there are protesters that make me question and want to research more about to find the risk it is doing to the land and any other possible downsides.

Canadian gold medalist Tessa Bonhomme was one of the first to raise her hand when asked if some members from the hockey team would do a public service annoucment for the Do It For Daron Foundation. This article explains the tragic event of the richards famiy after losing their daughter to suicide. The family trying to put a positive spin on their daughters death. tessa is not the only one standing up for mental illness many others are very vocal.
My thoughts fluctuate with each word I read, from the tragic death of fourteen year old Daron to Tessa telling storys of her aunt I can neither be for or against this subject. I wil however say that Womens hockey team standing up for this topic is amazing, they are roll models in our country and when people like them stand up for something more and more will join making it easier to deal with these issues knowing there is supportive people.
The article goes in depth of the HIV virus explaing how your body's immune system can fend off the virus, but eventually succuming to the hiv virus in the final standoff. It goes on to explain the recent tests that had an 80 percent of the test subjects injected with the anti bodies, failed to neatrulize the virus. The fortunate 20 percent injected with the anit-bodies were not only able to fight of the hiv virus but many others as well.
I am happy to hear that they have made a possible break through after years of extensive reaserch the scientists must be having a small victory in a long run of failures. it also gives people with the virus hope that they finally can be cure and continue a normal life.
